Four South End rental communities.

These guides describe the buildings and apartments. They do not show live vacancies. Ask our team about the particular home, its current terms and the features you need.

The Harris

390 Harrison Avenue

Studio through three-bedroom apartments. The community lists in-home laundry, an indoor pool, a fitness center with a bouldering wall, and work and library lounges. Compare the apartment’s room dimensions and storage, then ask which shared spaces and services your lease includes.

345 Harrison

345 Harrison Avenue

A rental community with a shared pool, Sky Deck and two-story fitness center. Apartment finishes and features vary by home, and some community amenities may carry a separate fee. Check the actual kitchen, storage and outdoor space rather than expecting every apartment to match the model photographs.

The Smith

89 and 99 East Dedham Street

Two buildings with studio through three-bedroom apartments and in-home laundry. The rooftop pool is at No. 89. Ask whether the apartment is in No. 89 or No. 99 and how you would reach the shared spaces you plan to use. Compare that home’s floor plan, windows and outdoor space.

Ink Block Apartments

Community address: 300 Harrison Avenue

This guide covers rental apartments at 1 Ink, 2 Ink and 3 Ink, separate from individually owned condos elsewhere at Ink Block. The community lists in-home laundry, a rooftop pool and two fitness centers. Confirm the rental building and its entrance before arranging a visit. Compare the floor plan and kitchen finishes for the home you would rent.

Compare monthly rent and move-in costs.

Ask for a written quote for the apartment, your move-in date and lease length. Compare rent, required monthly charges, utilities and parking. Check any pet or amenity charges that apply to your home and the services you will use.

Keep one-time move-in costs separate from monthly payments. If a concession is offered, ask for the payment schedule and the rent you will pay when it ends. A quoted discount is useful only when you can compare the full lease cost.

Check the rooms, commute and building amenities.

Your rooms, storage and outdoor space

Request the actual floor plan and photographs. Check room dimensions, usable wall space, closets and laundry equipment. If a balcony matters, confirm it belongs to that apartment; a shared roof deck is a different space.

Your walk to work and transit

Walk from the building entrance to the stops, workplace or campus you will use. Check the route at the times you expect to travel. Use the current transit schedule rather than relying on a general claim that a building is near transportation.

The pool, gym and work lounges

Confirm hours, guest rules, reservations and any charges for the pool, gym, work lounges or other amenities you need. Ask whether those spaces will be available during your lease and how you reach them from the apartment.

Buying in the South End?

Tell our buying team your price range, preferred streets or buildings and purchase timeline. For a condo, compare the specific home, condominium fees and building documents. An apartment rental guide does not establish what is currently for sale.

Talk with a buyer’s agent.

Ask our team about your South End rental.

Share your dates, budget and a building or apartment you want to discuss. If nearby Back Bay is also part of your search, One Back Bay at 135 Clarendon Street is a separate rental option in Back Bay.
