Two ways to settle in

Rent or buy
for your move.

Looking for a rental?

Tell our rental team your dates, budget, bedrooms and must-haves. Ask about the specific property’s availability, lease term, furnishings, pet requirements and total move-in costs before making plans around it.

Planning to buy?

Browse homes in Boston and nearby communities, then talk with a buyer’s agent about your timing, search priorities and showings. Discuss financing and any job change with your lender before relying on a purchase timeline.

Compare the everyday details

Test the commute.
Check the building.
Plan the move.

The trip to work

Compare the door-to-door route at your actual travel times, including walks, transfers, wait time and the trip home. A search for Downtown, Longwood or Kendall Square should start with the work address, not just a neighborhood name. Use the MBTA trip planner and check current service alerts; test the journey when you can.

Parking and
building access

Ask whether parking is included, separately rented or limited to street parking. Check stairs or elevator access, laundry and delivery arrangements. For a Boston address, review the City’s resident-parking requirements; other municipalities have their own rules.

The gap between
arrival and move-in

Confirm when you can collect keys and actually move in. Ask the building about move-in hours, elevator reservations and any charges. If your dates do not line up, plan for the gap before booking movers. For a move within Boston, check the City’s moving-truck parking process and current deadlines.
