Three Brighton rental communities.

Compare the communities below and read the linked guides for 26 Hichborn, the Overlook and NOVA Brighton. These are building comparisons, not a list of apartments currently available.

26 Hichborn

26 Hichborn Street · Boston Landing

Loft-style studios through three-bedroom penthouses, with in-home laundry. The building lists a shared roof deck, an enclosed heated garage, a package room and bicycle and private storage rooms. Ask about the particular home’s balcony, windows and storage, plus parking and pet terms. A roof deck is shared outdoor space; confirm whether the apartment also has a private balcony.

The Overlook at St. Gabriel’s

175 Washington Street

Makers Hall reuses the original church as a gathering and amenity space. The community lists lounges, fitness facilities, work spaces, a pool and sundeck, a pet run and pet spas, bicycle storage and garage parking with charging ports. Apartments include in-home laundry and keyless entry. Kitchen islands, dual vanities, balconies and walk-in closets are features of selected apartments. Ask which building and floor plan you would rent. Makers Hall’s restored church interiors are shared spaces; ask about the architecture of the apartment itself.

NOVA Brighton

1505 Commonwealth Avenue

Studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments with in-home laundry. The community lists a fitness center, clubhouse, dog park, barbecue and picnic area, bicycle racks and covered and uncovered parking. Confirm the actual home’s finishes, windows and floor plan. If you need furniture or a shorter lease, include those requirements in your inquiry rather than assuming the apartment comes furnished. Ask whether the home has income eligibility rules and a separate application process.

Compare rent, parking and move-in costs.

Ask for a written quote for the apartment, your dates and lease length. Compare rent, required monthly charges, utilities and any parking, pet or amenity charges that apply to the home.

Keep one-time move-in costs separate. If a concession is offered, ask when payments are due and what the rent will be after the discount ends. Confirm the moving arrangements for your date, including elevator reservations if needed.

Check your commute, floor plan and building rules.

Your train, bus or campus route

Boston Landing is a commuter rail station. For NOVA, check the Green Line stop and walk you would use from 1505 Commonwealth Avenue. From the Overlook, start with the actual apartment building entrance on the Washington Street site. Compare transfers, service at your travel times and the trip home; these three addresses do not have the same commute.

The apartment’s rooms and windows

Request the actual floor plan and room dimensions. Check bedroom separation, closets, laundry and room for a desk or dining table. Ask which floor, direction and part of the building the apartment occupies, then visit at a time when you expect to be home.

Shared amenities and private space

Confirm whether a balcony or terrace belongs to the apartment or is shared. Ask about gym, pool, roof deck and lounge access, hours, guest rules and reservations. A community’s photos may show a different floor plan or an amenity building rather than the home you would rent.

Parking, pets and the application process

Confirm the space, access and price for any parking you need. Ask which pet rules and charges apply. For homes with income eligibility requirements, clarify the required documents and separate application steps; sending the brokerage inquiry above is not a housing application.

Buying a home in Brighton?

Tell our buying team your price range, preferred addresses and purchase timeline. A purchase needs its own search and review of ownership costs and building documents; the rental comparisons above do not establish what is for sale.
