Chelsea · Retail premises · Lease, buy or market
Ask our commercial team about Chelsea retail premises to lease or buy, or about marketing a property you own. Describe the business, floor area, budget and timing so the discussion starts with what you need.
Amo Realty - Boston City Properties
This inquiry goes to our commercial team. It is not a lease application, reservation, financing approval or town permit request.
Chelsea is its own city, not a Boston neighborhood. Compare Broadway, Washington Street, Everett Avenue and the Crescent Avenue area by the actual premises and route to the entrance. A storefront, warehouse and converted office are not interchangeable spaces for a retailer. Chelsea’s comprehensive planning project is a citywide planning resource, not a list of offered properties.
This is a commercial-property guide, not a live list of available units. Ask our team about a specific address or your search criteria.
Compare before committing
Check customer frontage, permitted use, ceiling height, services, loading and parking. If storage is in a separate premises, include the staff and delivery journey between sites. Warehouse floor area alone does not tell you how much space can be used for customer-facing retail.
Compare the unit’s entrance and opening hours with the surrounding businesses. Visit during the periods that matter to your operation. Industrial redevelopment or a busy city street does not establish demand for your particular shop. Ask for current evidence relevant to your customers.
Check current routes, stops and service before relying on public transportation in your business plan. The old guide’s proposed Silver Line extension belongs to its historical period: the state’s rapid-transit dataset records the SL3 Chelsea branch added in 2018. Transit proximity does not prove a convenient walk to a particular unit or guarantee foot traffic.
Compare base rent, rent period, rentable area, taxes, insurance, maintenance, utilities and shared costs. Review deposits, fit-out and larger repair responsibilities. Historic asking rents and prices are not current Chelsea quotes; a low base rent may conceal substantial additional expenses.
For a purchase, compare financing, condition, taxes, repairs and funds retained for operations with a complete lease proposal. For a move, include equipment, downtime and building work. Neither ownership nor a cheaper advertised unit guarantees a better result for the business.
Obtain property documents and investigate condition, access, services and the proposed work. Ask your advisers about the purchase terms and the city about the intended use. A foreclosure or distressed listing is not automatically a bargain, and an existing structure is not approval for a retail conversion.
Ask about renewal, assignment, subletting, expansion and exit terms. Identify which entrances, storage, parking and services are included. Clarify responsibilities in writing rather than assuming a multi-tenant building makes maintenance free or a future move easy.
The city’s December 2018 open-space and recreation plan describes Chelsea Prospers, downtown coordination, small-business support and public-space improvements. The earlier guide discussed Bellingham Square, Chelsea Square and City Hall-area events. These are historical context, not a promise of a current grant, event schedule or customer volume.
Tell our team the required use, size, customer access, loading, budget and target opening. Include whether you need fitted premises or can undertake work. Ask about actual properties and current information rather than treating this page as an automatically updated vacancy feed.
Send the address, size, current use, condition, occupancy, existing agreements and timing. Say whether you want to sell, lease or propose a sublease. Our commercial team can discuss the offer and negotiations; any required consent or approval must be checked for the specific property.
Before you sign or start work
Discuss the property with our commercial team. Ask your attorney to review the agreement, your lender about financing and the municipality about the approvals for your business. A general location guide does not settle those property-specific questions.
Send the address or search area, business use, size, budget and timing.
