Cambridge, Massachusetts · Buying and renting · Commercial property
For Cambridge real estate, distinguish a home purchase, rental and commercial-property inquiry. Define the required rooms or working space before choosing the area that fits your plans.

Choose the location and property
If Kendall Square, Central Square or another location interests you, use that preference in your search. Compare the actual building and address rather than assuming proximity to a university provides a particular housing arrangement.
Before choosing a property
An apartment, condo and commercial space need different terms and property records. Describe the intended use and building features; a converted industrial appearance does not establish the suitability or approval of your proposal.
Include the property address or listing, the space you need and your purchase timing. Ask what the property documents cover, what belongs to the home and which responsibilities or charges are shared. Discuss financing and transaction questions with the appropriate advisers.
Tell our rental team your move-in timing, budget, room requirements and any parking, pet or access questions. Ask about the specific home’s availability, lease terms and application requirements. A building guide does not confirm that a unit is currently available.
Explain the activity, required working space and whether you want to purchase or lease. Include the address if you have a property in mind, then ask about the building, transaction terms and the records needed to investigate the proposed use.
If a location near the Charles River or a particular daily destination matters, identify the address or area. Compare the home’s access and included features with those requirements.
For an attached-home purchase, ask about the unit and development records; for a rental, identify the proposed lease and move timing. A city-wide housing mix does not determine the terms of the specific property.
If you are considering an investment property, describe the intended activity, budget and timing. Ask about the actual building records and transaction terms; a university location or converted industrial appearance does not establish rental income or an approved use.
