Renting a residence on Avery Street

The Ritz-Carlton residences include condominium homes on Avery Street in downtown Boston. Boston City Properties’ building guide covers rentals as well as ownership; this page is for renters asking about an individually offered home.

Residence sizes and finishes vary considerably, from one-bedroom homes to larger combined layouts. There is no assumption that an apartment is available today or that every tower offers the same services.

Compare the actual residence

The guide describes hardwood floors, large windows and kitchens with stone counters and built-in appliances. Selected homes have separate dining areas, a den, en-suite bathrooms or in-home laundry.

Custom renovations mean one unit’s marble bathroom, wine cooler or view is not a building-wide specification. Ask for the floor plan, exact tower and unit photographs.

Services and parking

Concierge and valet services, garage parking and access to hotel-related facilities are discussed in the older guide. Confirm what the offered lease actually includes and which fitness, pool, housekeeping or other services carry separate membership or charges.

Rental approval and pet rules can involve both the individual owner and building requirements. Confirm those terms before budgeting or arranging a move.

Avery Street towers and home types

The original guide describes the residences at 1, 2 and 3 Avery Street as a downtown mixed-use development completed in 2000. It cites 132 homes, ranging from one-bedroom residences to combined homes with four or more bedrooms. Confirm the exact tower, association and residence before applying those historic development-wide figures.

The guide names North Tower A and D plans and South Tower D, H, C, E and G plans. Floor-to-ceiling windows may face Boston Common, the skyline, the Charles River or the harbor depending on the home’s location. A view described for one unit is not promised elsewhere.

Distinctive homes in the original guide

One historical two-bedroom corner example on the 27th floor includes herringbone hardwood, a marble foyer, den or library with built-ins and a wet bar, formal dining, en-suite bathrooms, a double oven and two deeded parking spaces. A separate one-bedroom example has Brazilian cherry flooring, one-and-a-half baths, in-home laundry and one deeded space.

Other examples include a renovated three-bedroom/three-and-a-half-bath residence with distinctive marble and ceramic-tile finishes; North Tower 31A, a three-bedroom/three-bath home with a wraparound living area and a bedroom used as an office; and South Tower 21H, a two-bedroom/three-bath rental example with en-suite baths, wraparound living/dining space and Viking kitchen appliances, including a double oven and gas cooktop. These are descriptions of earlier homes—not current listings.

Purchasing and hotel-related services

Boston City Properties can help with either purchasing or renting an Avery Street residence. The older guide discusses concierge, doorman, porter, valet, guest parking, housekeeping, room service, maintenance, restaurants, fitness facilities and a pool. It uses the former LA Sports Club name and round-the-clock hours; verify the current provider, membership, hours and eligibility rather than relying on those old details.

A deeded parking space, hotel service or sports-club benefit described for an owner is not automatically included in a rental. Ask for the specific home’s inclusions and separate charges. Historical asking prices and the broad original price range are not current valuations.
