Discover New Street Condos and Apartments in East Boston

Currently, 6 New Street is planned to be furnished with more than 259 apartments and condos that include studio, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom units. The developer has proposed two separate buildings to house the area with 16 stories in one building and another four in the other building. It also recommends a new water-taxi dock with more than 155 parking spaces and a 12-foot-wide Harborwalk extension in the territory.

The fate of the 6-26 New Street building had been uncertain until some time back. The waterfront development attracted many different investors looking to benefit from the one-of-its-kind development project in East Boston that comprised more than hundreds of waterside apartments and condos.

The monumental project involved a lot of planning and effort, and after repeated talks between development authorities and different private real estate builders, the deal was closed by Gerding Edlen, a developer who sought to resurrect the 4-acre industrial building in the form of hotel rooms, condos and apartments. The plan also involves construction of a water-taxi landing next to 6-26 New St. condos and apartments.

Gerding Edlen's proposal was approved by the Boston Redevelopment Authority. The entire project is estimated between $120 million and $140 million. This is far from the first endeavor made to rebuild the eyesore standing on the site. In fact, Factory 63's developers had also shown similar interest to establish the site.

Copley Wolff Design Group has been entrusted with some of the design work for the development. The group seeks to offer an array of amenities and services that can be expected of any modern living. It also seeks to provide residents with an innovative fitness center and rooftop pool.

6-26 New Street is ideally located at a short distance from downtown Boston. New Street promises a breathtaking view from its waterside apartments in more than three directions. The designated no-fly zone also assures residents and tenants of the peace and comfort they seek without being disturbed by the incoming and outgoing flights of Logan International Airport that is situated in the vicinity of New Street.

The development of water taxi is another step in the right direction. Its proximity to the MBTA Maverick Station will make it easier for residents to visit key places in Boston, such as Logan International Airport, Government Center, Financial District and downtown Boston. If you're looking to set up your own office in the local area, the Financial District is the right choice. The business center hosts more than 28 million square feet of office space. It also promises high-paying jobs to residents and tenants of East Boston. It is also within walking distance to East Boston Harborwalk and LoPresti Park.

These are some of the reasons why New Street development in East Boston is garnering so much media attention and fame. The 4-acre waterfront parcel is a treat to the East Boston's real estate development.
