Description

Among the many exciting developments happening in Boston these days, Lovejoy Wharf is a definite standout. This mix-use development is poised to transform the very face of the North Station neighborhood while bringing more than 200 luxury condominiums area. The development is unique for a number of reasons, but the fact that it's the first condo development in Boston without on-site parking is among the most interesting. Considering its prime location and incredible access to public transportation, it's safe to say that residents won't be missing their cars too much, anyway. However, there is a parking garage 1 block away.

Lovejoy Wharf: The Basics

The new development, which is bordered by North Washington Street to the east, Lovejoy Place to the south, Beverly Street to the west and Boston Inner Harbor to the north, is a major upgrade over what previously sat on the site. For years, the dilapidated old wharf building was a major eyesore that detracted from this bustling part of the city. Lovejoy Wharf does away with that by replacing it with a contemporary building that's sure to become an architectural landmark in years to come. Two structures sit on the site. The first contains upwards of 200 luxury condos along with retail and restaurant space. The second boasts more than 200,000 square feet of office space, and Converse has already snapped up a significant portion of it.

Mix-Use Living in the Heart of Boston

Those who bemoan the lack of parking at Lovejoy Wharf should be pleased to note that the development is designed to provide residents with virtually everything they need to go about their daily lives. Eventually, it will be home to a variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and other retail sites. A 300-seat cafe-style restaurant is already setting up shop, and the landscaping is designed to promote outdoor dining and seating. A plaza will play host to everything from farmer's markets to musical performances and is expected to become a prime gathering spot for residents and visitors alike.

A Prime Location

Lovejoy Wharf is designed to make the most of the much-anticipated Harborwalk, another upgrade to one of the most pedestrian-friendly cities in the world. The newly renovated wharf will connect the North End to the Charles River Basin, and the development itself will further connect other open spaces. Lovejoy Wharf is within easy walking distance of TD Banknorth Garden and The Greenway, and the Zakim Bridge/I-93 is just a stone's throw away from the 2.1-acre site. Most importantly, the mixed-use development is convenient to numerous MBTA stations and public water transportation options. With expanded space for Zip Car parking and bicycle storage, it's sure to appeal to even the most discerning Bostonians.
