Description

In 1988, developers transformed a large Victorian home overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and Massachusetts Bay into a six unit condominium called "The Buckley at Black Rock Beach". The property stood along Jerusalem Road in Cohasset in Norfolk County. The original structure, built in the late 1880s, displayed dark brown, yellow, and white siding, and included several outbuildings.

Architects completely renovated this property to create a total of six spacious two-bedroom luxury condos. Three stood at garden level, and three maintained a townhome floor plan in the upper two stories of the renovated residence. Designers completely transformed the exterior, adding white vinyl siding and a new greenish-gray asphalt shingle roof.

The Buckley at Black Rock Beach offered impressive Oceanside vistas from every condo unit. It maintained an expansive green lawn with attractive landscaping. A long covered porch encircled much of the building on the ocean front side, providing a charming outdoor recreational retreat.

The architects carefully preserved many distinctive Victorian-style features, including gables and a pointed conical tower. In addition to the beautiful lawn, the residential community enjoyed access to adjoining Black Rock Beach. A paved driveway surrounded by mature trees marked the entrance to this estate.

Savor Incredible Ocean Front Views

Currently only very limited information exists online concerning this development. The individual units within The Buckley at Black Rock Beach as envisioned by the architect supplied some unique features. Several units included a fireplace with a mantle; all offered high ceilings (a hallmark of fine Victorian buildings), updated kitchens and bathrooms, and exceptional ocean views. Modifications have occurred since the original conversion into condos.

Black Rock Beach lies just to the north of two other beaches in Cohasset. Just a short distance to the south of this site Pleasant Beach and Sandy Beach attract seasonal visitors to this quiet Massachusetts town. The location of the Buckley at Black Rock Beach supplies remarkable beach front access.

Neighborhood

Cohasset in 2010 maintained a population of over 7,500 residents. The peaceful community extends across a nearly 9 mile area adjoining the coastline. Residents in this location easily visit the historic towns of Braintree and Quincy, two communities closely associated with President John Adams and his family.

The community also sits very close to the site of Wompatuck State Park. Cohasset lies amidst a popular tourism destination, within easy commuting distance of the rapidly expanding metropolis of Boston. Spectacular seaside vistas in this region make it a particularly scenic locale.
