A possible distribution location

Boston City Properties reported in May 2018 that Braintree officials were discussing an Amazon lease for a former United Liquors warehouse on Campanelli Drive. The approximately 200,000-square-foot property was being considered for warehouse and distribution activity, not as an office headquarters.

The account connected the news with Mayor Joseph Sullivan’s April 30 council announcement and noted that planning-board review remained part of the process. It described a prospective use and lease, not a confirmed operating facility with established delivery schedules.

One part of a broader expansion

The article placed the Braintree discussion beside Amazon’s separate Seaport office announcement and its existing or expanding footprint in Cambridge, Back Bay, Fort Point, North Reading and Fall River. Those locations served different functions; a warehouse proposal should not be read as proof of a headquarters decision.

The story’s timing explains the speculation surrounding the company in 2018. The Campanelli Drive property still faced local review for its proposed distribution role. Neither the discussion nor Amazon’s wider expansion established an operating Braintree facility or guaranteed future property values.
