The office building reached a milestone

In December 2020, Boston City Properties reported that Amazon’s Seaport office building at 111 Harbor Way had topped off on November 18. Also known as Block L4, the 17-story building was designed by Gensler, developed by WS Development and being built by Turner Construction.

The account described approximately 525,000 square feet overall, with Amazon leasing 430,000 square feet and two levels reserved for restaurant and retail uses. Terraces and a public passage were part of the design. Topping off marked progress on the structure; it did not mean the offices were occupied.

A different proposal at 4 Alger Street

The article contrasted that milestone with a distribution-center proposal at 4 Alger Street, within the separate On the Dot development area. Local objections and zoning-board action were part of the warehouse story, not a setback to the same office building.

The account gave inconsistent timing for the Alger Street board action. The Seaport office project advancing through construction and the separate warehouse proposal encountering review difficulties were different developments. Employment expectations and legal consequences were statements of the period, not verified current outcomes.
