The November 2021 acquisition
An earlier Boston City Properties report said IQHQ acquired Hotel Buckminster on November 3, 2021 at the intersection of Brookline Avenue and Beacon Street in Fenway. It described the hotel’s March 2020 closure and later decision not to reopen.
Precise redevelopment plans were not identified in the account. A life-science or office use was anticipated, with the future of the existing footprint left open.
Hotel, baseball, radio and jazz history
The earlier account connected the 1897 hotel with the alleged meeting behind the 1919 World Series scandal, naming Chick Gandil and Sport Sullivan. That story was part of its attributed historical narrative.
The account also described WNAC broadcasts from the basement, Storyville jazz activity in the 1950s and later rooming-house use. These earlier uses explain the building’s place in Fenway history.
Separate life-science projects nearby
Fenway Center, 109 Brookline Avenue, 20 Overland, One Kenmore Square and the 401 Park/201 Brookline Avenue area appeared as separate redevelopment context. Their earlier schedules and footage descriptions are not one combined property specification.
