The address and the development partnership
An earlier Boston City Properties report described Alexandria Real Estate Equities and National Development planning a laboratory and office building at 15 Necco Street beside Fort Point Channel. It distinguished that parcel from 5 Necco Street, described as leased to General Electric, and 10 Necco Street, an adjacent acquired site.
The proposed 12-story building contained approximately 316,000 square feet of multitenant life-science, office and research space. Ground-floor retail, restaurants and public collaboration space were part of the concept.
Permitting and the changing design
The account referred to acquisitions in May 2019 and March 2020, a foundation permit in July 2021, a later building permit and further permits still proceeding. Crane and steelwork were expected in early 2022; it did not supply a confirmed completion date.
The design shifted toward red brick, with a neighboring park and street-elevation changes discussed for the waterfront setting. Elkus Manfredi Architects received the original image credit.
The wider campus concept
The source placed 5, 10 and 15 Necco within an envisioned 650,000-square-foot campus and mentioned separate activity at 99 A Street. Nearby former warehouses, open space and transport connections were context for the redevelopment.
For a current conversation, give the exact parcel or premises, research or office activity, area, purchase or lease and timing. Ask about condition, installed systems and access, with waterfront and technical questions investigated by appropriate professionals.
