The River Street site and development partners
An earlier Boston City Properties article described the Mattapan Station redevelopment at 500 River Street. It identified Preservation of Affordable Housing and Nuestra Comunidad Community Development Corp. as the developers, with an August 2017 letter of intent and February 2018 approval.
Construction was reported to begin in November 2020 after pandemic delays. The 2.5-acre parking-lot site near River Street, Blue Hill Avenue and the Neponset River Greenway was described as held through a 99-year lease.
Apartments and a separate ownership phase
The first building was described as 133 mixed-income apartments, two townhouses with at-grade entrances, 10,000 square feet of commercial space and a 2,000-square-foot community room. Studio through three-bedroom layouts and different income-related terms were part of the proposal.
A later four-story building was planned with nine condos near River Street and the bus loop. It was a separate ownership phase from the first building’s mixed-income rental housing.
Parking, shared space and the earlier timetable
The report said bedrock led to dropping an underground parking proposal in favor of another parking area across River Street. A Greenway entrance to the community room and potential restaurant activity were proposed ways to connect the site with its setting.
The first phase was then forecast for February 2022 completion; the later phase had no confirmed start in the account. For a home or business-space request, ask about current details, transaction, layout and access rather than that projected timetable.
