A narrow home with a distinctive sale
October 2017 reporting described the sale of the Skinny House at 44 Hull Street in the North End. The $895,000 asking price was followed by a reported $900,000 purchase, a difference of $5,000. Cabot & Company was identified in the transaction coverage.
The unusually narrow house was described as having four stories, two bedrooms, one bathroom and a small yard. Its width and constrained layout helped explain why it drew attention beyond an ordinary property listing.
Interior space and a roof deck
The archive discussed a kitchen, laundry space and a roof deck as parts of the home. It also described views from the upper level. Those features belonged to the historical property account rather than a current offer or inspection report.
Room arrangement mattered in a home with so little width. A total story count, the location of a deck and the way each floor was used were separate details; the description did not establish current building approval or the condition of those spaces.
The Spite House story
The property was also known as the Spite House. A frequently repeated story involved brothers, an inheritance and construction intended to obstruct a neighboring view. The October account presented that local legend alongside the sale.
A legend is not the same as documented construction history. The tale’s chronology was not independently established in this archive, and the transaction did not verify it. This is a record of the home’s 2017 sale coverage, not a present-day listing.
