An announcement after leasing began in 2015
The October 2017 archive reported Northland Investment Corporation’s announcement that all 269 apartments at The Merc had been leased. The downtown Waltham development near Moody and Main streets had begun leasing in 2015, before the entire complex was finished.
The statement described occupancy at that time. It was not evidence of present vacancies or a continuing promise that the building would remain fully leased.
Downtown context and a proposed market
Waltham Common, local shops and commuter-rail access were part of the account. The connection toward Porter Square involved commuter rail and a transfer context, not a Red Line subway station located at the property.
The archive also discussed a planned 12,000-square-foot Brothers Marketplace, a Roche Bros. brand, with a spring opening anticipated. That expectation was a separate retail announcement, not a confirmed current tenant directory.
Rents and apartment descriptions
Advertised starting rents were reported at $2,095 for studios, $2,495 for one-bedroom homes and $2,895 for two-bedroom homes. The account described kitchens, in-home laundry, storage and shared amenities, including fitness space and a sky deck.
It also discussed pets and a smoke-free policy. Those were historical marketing details, not today’s lease terms or a guarantee about a particular unit, view or animal policy. The article records a 2017 lease-up announcement rather than offering an apartment.
