Apartments were removed from the proposal
The October 2017 archive reported that Samuels & Associates had removed approximately 550 apartments from its Landmark Center redevelopment concept. The revised proposal emphasized roughly 506,000 square feet of office and laboratory space instead.
The change involved the area near Fullerton Street and Brookline Avenue. It was a revision to a proposed program, not a statement that completed apartments were being taken out of service.
Retail, public space and a market concept
The account discussed additional retail, changes to existing space and public open areas. It also described plans associated with the 401 Park name and a Time Out food-market concept with dining, bars and cooking-related activity.
A possible Wegmans store appeared as an uncertain element. It was not a confirmed opening in the account. Different park-area and retail measurements described parts of the proposal and should not simply be added together.
Phases and expectations
The article anticipated work in stages, with lease arrangements influencing when later construction could proceed. Dates discussed for 2018 and 2019 reflected plans at the time rather than a verified completion record.
This historical report preserves the change from a residential concept to office and laboratory use. It does not provide current leasing information or confirm a later tenant lineup, completed public space or final building program.
