Boston’s August figures
The October archive discussed Zumper figures for August 2017 that put a Boston one-bedroom asking rent at about $2,200 and a two-bedroom at $2,600. The report placed Boston among the more expensive rental markets in its national comparison.
The article described a small monthly decline in the one-bedroom measure. A movement in that sample did not establish that all neighborhoods or existing leases experienced the same change.
National and nearby comparisons
The national figures cited were $1,183 for a one-bedroom home and $1,402 for a two-bedroom. Cambridge and Brookline appeared in a separate metropolitan comparison, with unit size important to each number.
The account discussed a Cambridge two-bedroom figure around $2,930 and a Brookline two-bedroom figure around $2,800. These were historical asking-rent observations, not verified signed leases or present-day quotations.
A market snapshot rather than a rental offer
The comparison also mentioned less expensive communities beyond Boston. Differences among cities did not establish the condition, included costs or location of an individual available apartment.
The timing was late summer and the beginning of the fall rental discussion in 2017. The figures do not provide current vacancy or affordability information. A concrete comparison still needs the address, bedroom count, lease dates, fees and utilities attached to the actual home.
