A forecast, not a later result
The November 2012 article carried a forecast of a 15% rise in home prices over three years. Its discussion attributed an optimistic outlook to an analyst identified only as Mr. Yun; it did not provide a full name, a report link or the name of the annual conference being discussed.
The report described homeowners whose mortgages exceeded their homes’ values after substantial price declines. It argued that additional construction could moderate future price growth, while builders faced higher costs, recession concerns and difficulty obtaining financing for smaller homes.
Reading the prediction in its time
These were expectations and lending concerns reported in 2012. The article does not demonstrate that the forecast came true, and its discussion is not a description of current mortgage programs or borrowing conditions.
