An October 2017 Boston City Properties article covered pre-leasing at Boston East, a reported 200-unit waterfront apartment development on Border Street. It described a $71 million project, an anticipated December opening and leasing activity that had begun in August.
The pre-leasing arrangement described in 2017
The report identified Trinity Financial with Boston East and described a temporary marketing center at 80 Border Street beside the project. It said prospective renters could view a model apartment and learn about the proposed design and amenities there.
The source connected the marketing-center location with East Boston Artists Group studios and the Atlantic Works gallery. These historical directions are not instructions to submit an application at that address today.
The article also compared early leasing with Clippership Wharf. Its wording attributed that separate project to the same organization without supplying support; this revision does not use that comparison to establish common ownership or management.
The waterfront building and artist homes
The article described Boston East as a mid-rise development directly on Boston Harbor, with city and water views and access to the city center and public transit. It named ICON Architecture as the designer and counted six live/work artist homes within the 200 units.
The source described those artist homes as spaces to live, work and sell finished work. That description does not establish current program eligibility or permission for every use. The developer's comments about strong demand and affordability were promotional statements, not evidence that every prospective renter could afford the apartments.
Features described in the original article
Reported apartment features included large windows, decks and patios, with a rooftop lounge among the shared spaces. The article's broad wording did not establish that every home had every feature or view.
Shared features discussed included outdoor space, the Harborwalk, a fire pit, the Yard, a paddleboard and kayak launch, an indoor gym, a pet spa and ground-floor art displays. It also mentioned Zipcar and a Hubway bicycle dock. These are the original report's descriptions, not a current amenity checklist.
The historical asking rents
The article described more than 170 market-rate homes and reported monthly starting prices of $2,000 for studios, $2,200 for one-bedroom homes, $3,000 for two-bedroom homes and $4,800 for three-bedroom homes. It separately mentioned lofts starting at $2,400.
Those figures belong to the 2017 report. They do not establish current rent, fees, unit sizes, concessions or availability. The original did not provide a complete rent schedule or prove that the quoted prices applied to a particular apartment.
