Three residences proposed at 306 Dartmouth Street
The October 2017 archive described plans to transform the Ames-Webster Mansion at 306 Dartmouth Street in Back Bay into three luxury condominiums. A triplex penthouse was part of the proposal, with ambitious asking-price expectations reported for the future residences.
The article anticipated completion in 2019. Proposed prices and a construction schedule were not evidence that the residences had been finished, sold or remained available later.
Restoration alongside a new residential layout
The mansion’s large reception spaces, fireplaces, decorative glass, murals and other interior details were important to the proposed conversion. The discussion combined the preservation of historic craftsmanship with modern kitchens, bathrooms and separate residential layouts.
It also recalled decades of office use and a period when numerous businesses occupied the property. That history helped explain the scale of the work involved in turning a large former commercial interior back toward residential use.
Listing history required care
The account gave inconsistent 2013 and 2014 acquisition references and different measurements for the mansion. Those details do not establish one independently verified purchase date or floor area. They also should not be confused with earlier asking prices or a later closed-sale result.
This article records the conversion proposal and architectural interest as they were discussed in 2017. It is not a current condominium listing, a valuation or confirmation of the final design and ownership of an individual home.
