Real Estate News
In recent years, the city has enjoyed a real estate boom. Investors and homeowners come to the area because it offers new developments at a lower price. From August 2016 to August 2017, there were 85 single-family permits issued for building condos, townhouses and homes. Right now, there is a new construction of one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments off of Victor Drive at Balsam Place. In total, the finished complex will have 192 units. The Bella Woods Townhomes are being constructed near East Street. Once they are finished, the Bella Woods Townhomes will include 130 units. In addition, Catamount Road and Frasier Lane will soon have a number of high-end units.
In 2017, the city issued permits for eight units at Sarina Way and another eight at Elaina Millard Estates. Only 60 percent of the units that have been permitted in the past year have been completed, so more homes are coming soon. Compared to other towns, this area has a strong condo market. It continues to draw in residents because the average single-family home sells for much less than communities like Reading, Burlington, Wilmington or Woburn.
Another new project can be found on Dascomb Road. This mixed-use development will include a total of 600,000 square feet. In total, it will host 225 residential units. Placed at the border with Andover, the site spans 23 acres. Zoning was changed in 2013 to make it easier to build, but the project still needs to obtain the right permits and approvals. If it is approved, the mixed-use developments will include a fitness center, 150,000 square feet of office space, a recreation center, a restaurant space and 50,000 square feet of retail space.
