The town itself only has two main roadways through it, and has a commercial and residential district. The residential area is lined with beautiful brick row houses, many of them being three stories tall. There are several different ethnic restaurants within this small area that popular with residents as well as people in nearby Jamaica Plain. Several unique shops are located here, and there are a few places for entertainment. Everything you could want is always just a few minutes away.
Many people in this area take advantage of the quiet life found in Mission Hill and commute to other areas to work, such as Longwood Medical Area. Some students from nearby Harvard also call Mission Hill home.
Mission Hill has access to the Green Line and the Orange Line subway stations as well as several different bus lines. Many people prefer to maneuver through the area on foot or by bicycle because of how small Mission Hill is in comparison to other areas.
Temporary apartments can be found offering lease options of three, six, or nine month leases. Long term lease options are also available for those who wish to remain in the area on a permanent basis.
Mission Hill is currently undergoing a transformation. Many of the older hoes are being reconditioned and redone. However, the Historical Society is working hard to keep the beautiful architecture in this area preserved. Many buildings within the area are part of the National Historic Register.
The cultural diversity, historical buildings, and small community feeling associated with Mission Hill keeps it a very desirable place to live. People come to this area to experience everything that Boston has to offer while still retaining small town charm.
