The Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel was developed by Henry Janeway Hardenbergh in 1912. It is considered a significant part of an ensemble of architectural greatness which includes the Boston Public Library, Trinity Church, and the John Hancock Tower.

The Fairmont Copley Plaza is considered and recognized as one of the Historic Hotels of America in addition to being involved in the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
