Cohasset Commercial Investment Properties

Why should you invest in commercial real estate in this historic community? In 1614, Captain John Smith was the first European explorer to navigate the area, which was then settled in 1647. The region has a humid subtropical climate, which is relatively warm for a geographical area so far north in latitude. This means the summers are hot and humid, and the winters tend to be mild to cool.

Natural preserves comprise much of the southwestern part of the town. Both the Wompatuck State Park and Whitney and Thayer Woods Reservation are located in this region. Wompatuck offers camping for 262, with electricity available at 140 sites. From mid-April until mid-October, tourists have the opportunity to take advantage of the camping facilities. Visitors can enjoy walking a 1.5-mile trail. Park visitors now have use of 20 spaces in the former MBTA Station lot. Non-motorized boats are allowed to use the park's boat ramp to access the Aaron River Reservoir. Some other trails in the park include 12 miles of paved bike routes, besides other trails dedicated to hiking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing and mountain biking. Seasonal game bird hunting is allowed in the South Field portion of the park. Free spring water is available at Mt. Blue Spring.

The effects of the glacial era are evident at Whitney and Thayer Woods. Remnants of the Ice Age, such as boulders and caves, abound in this scenic reservation. Ten miles of moderately-difficult trails take hikers to a group of glacial remnants known as Ode's Den, Bigelow Boulder and the American holly groves. A portion of the trails, Milliken Memorial Path, is lined with a wild garden that was planted in the 1920s and includes azaleas, rhododendrons and other warm-climate shrubbery.

Turkey Hill comprises 62 acres of woods and provides a scenic view with its 187-foot summit. The fields on top of the hill receive an annual cutting in order to preserve such grassland birds as the bobolink and meadowlark. The woods are open all year from sunrise to sunset.

The Barnes Wildlife Sanctuary, a deep-forest habitat, features steep-sloped ledges, wetlands and dense forests that provide a home for 19 species of birds and watersheds that are home to amphibians and invertebrates.

The Wheelwright Park near Little Harbor is a product of the New Deal program, when the Works Progress Administration (WPA) constructed 4,000 feet of gravel paths through the park and fireplaces at points set aside as picnic areas. Today, the paths are hiking trails lined with pine trees. An ice skating pond constructed by the Civilian Conservations Corps (CCC) in the 1930s is also a favorite site in Wheelwright Park.

One of the nation's oldest yacht clubs, the town's yacht club was formed in 1894. Last March, the club's members voted to replace their clubhouse, which is expected to be ready for opening in late spring or early summer.

Formed in 1960, the town's sailing club was created to make sailing accessible and affordable for the community's citizens. The club places special emphasis on training youth in seamanship.

With all its natural attractions and appealing outdoor activities, it's no wonder that investing in commercial real estate in this town is an excellent choice. As the U.S. economy continues to grow and tourists with higher paychecks are willing to spend their hard-earned money, there will be an increasing demand for retail and hospitality businesses to serve their needs.
