Brookline Condos for Sale & Rent

This community ranks at the top of the national real estate market for its affluence, cultural attractions and high quality of life. Its unique blend of urban amenities and suburban neighborhoods has made it one of the most desirable locations in the greater Boston area. The quality of the community and its unique features are among the top reasons why people purchase condos in this metropolitan city. Buyers also find that it has one of the best markets for larger condos with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, in-unit laundry, deeded parking and other attractive features.

Brookline Neighborhoods

Brookline is bordered by six popular Boston neighborhoods and suburbs. It has the convenience of Brighton, Allston and Fenway-Kenmore while offering the appealing suburban features that residents love about Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury and Mission Hill. Above all, it has a similar feel to the affluent bedroom community of Newton, which is farther from Boston. Residents are minutes from the Longwood Medical Area, and commuting to Boston is easy by car or the transit lines that run along Commonwealth Avenue and Beacon Street.

The majority of condos are located along these main streets and areas near Coolidge Corner and Brookline Village. Many condos are located in historic brick walk-ups and mid-sized apartment buildings. A smaller number of condos are located in bow-front townhomes and glamorous Victorian mansions. Other areas with a large number of condos include Washington Square, Cleveland Circle, Chestnut Hill and residential streets that run between Brookline's main arteries.

Brookline Condo Prices

In this highly desirable market, the median sale price for condos is approximately $600,000. While new listings are trending at increasingly high prices, most units are selling for $535 per square foot. In 2014, Brookline condos reached an all-time high when the average listing price soared into the mid-$900,000s. Despite the high demand and dwindling supply, buyers can still secure a one-bedroom unit in the $400,000s. If you're interested in the larger condos that Brookline is known for, you can find a unit with two bedrooms and at least one bath for between $500,000 and $600,000, but listings can be significantly higher. The number of top-tier homes has increased significantly. It's important to note that sales in this high-end segment have doubled in the past few years. Today, one-third of condos in Brookline are listed for more than $900,000. This includes the large suburban-style condos that put Brookline on the map.
