Watermark, Final Phase of Cambridge’s Market Central, Now Open

The final phase of the highly anticipated Market Central mixed-use development in Cambridge’s Central Square is complete, opening up nearly 300 new luxury apartments for lease. With the completion of Watermark, a 19-story, 195-foot-tall luxury apartment tower, developers’ vision for Market Central is now complete. With more than 308,000 square feet of mixed-use space, the transit-oriented Market Central development has transformed the face of Central Square in Cambridge. Situated at the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Main Street, it consists of three buildings. Watermark, the third and final one, is now open and leasing, and the other two buildings have been open for some time. The first, a six-story, 70-foot-tall building, offers “innovation housing,” which includes studio apartments and roommate units. These units feature prime amenities like in-unit washers and dryers; smartphone-enabled video intercom systems; smartphone-enabled keyless entry; Energy Star appliances; Nest thermostats; and kitchens with elegant quartz countertops. Studios offer around 333 square feet of space and leases start at $2,685 per month. One-bedroom apartments, which offer between 525 and 700 square feet, rent for between $3,230 and $4,260 per month. For $4,900 to $5,600 per month, you can snag a two-bedroom unit with between 900 and 1,050 square feet of space. Finally, three-bedroom, two-bath units, which offer 950 to 1,225 square feet, lease for $6,050 to $6,750 per month.
Situated as it is near the Central Square MBTA Red Line station, Market Central provides a convenient location for those who work in Cambridge and even across the river in Boston. Its development included the restoration of the historic Apollo Building, and the grounds include a covered outdoor pedestrian walkway and marketplace as well as a new plaza. There is also 16,000 square feet of retail space that’s sure to fill up quickly along with an underground garage with parking for 150 vehicles and 360 bicycles.
