Condo Addition to South End Church Approved by City of Boston
During the week of June 8, the Boston Redevelopment Board approved three developments worth a total of more than $75 million in and around the city. Needless to say, development in the city is on fire, and Boston City Properties is here to keep you on top of the latest real estate activities. The three approved developments include a new home for Boston Preparatory Charter Public School in Hyde Park, which will be housed in a 48,000-square-foot facility. The board also approved a 12-unit, all-affordable residential development for low-income residents at 35 Huntington Street in Dorchester.
Perhaps most notably, however, the BRB approved a proposal by architect Feingold Alexander & Associates and New Boston Ventures' David Goldman to create a glass-and-steel addition to the historic Holy Trinity German Church and Rectory in the South End. The venture will ultimately result in a new condo development that incorporates many original elements from the church, which was built in the 1870s, along with sleek, modern steel and glass elements. The church has been vacant for more than five years. Development on the new condo venture is slated to begin sometime this summer and expected to conclude by the end of 2016.
Boston City Properties will be keeping a close eye on these developments, but we are especially interested in how the Holy Trinity German Church will be transformed into one of the hottest new luxury condo developments in this part of the city. Stay tuned to keep up on the latest developments regarding this building and others in and around the city.
