Suitably, many of the townhouses here are built close to the water, either on the north or south shores of the community. They are often designed in complexes which are large enough to provide access to shared amenities, including fitness centers, community gardens, and a large swimming pool or hot tub. The central courtyards of these complexes also often incorporate a portion of a rolling meadow or other large exterior space that is populated with benches and places to recreate, from outdoor cooking areas to places for impromptu volleyball nets and other sporting activities.

The interiors of these structures usually make the most of the sea view, with long rectangular glass panes stretching the length of the living room. In the bedrooms, many smaller paned windows may be grouped together to form a kind of shuttered view of the sea. In others, large glass doors provide access to a private balcony or other viewing spot that overlooks the ocean. Built-in shelving is common in these homes, and offers plenty of spaces for knick-knacks, books, and the display of other beautiful and rare items. Wood paneling is occasionally found in these homes, especially if they were built before 1920. In newer homes, a bright white wainscoting often is installed throughout the house, creating a lovely visual throughline from room to room.

The kitchens tend to be decorated with whites, blacks, and grays in the form of marble, granite, steel and specially treated wood. Some kitchens have cabinets directly above all of the appliances, while others prefer to cluster their cabinetry into one wall or space. Yet others feature an iron rack mounted to the ceiling which provides visible storage for pots, pans, and other cookware. These arrangements often add a cozy atmosphere to the kitchen. Depending on the particular effect, the kitchen may emphasize these homey elements or stick to a more rigorous modern palette. A separate laundry room, usually on second floor, is also common.

Glamorous bathrooms are another common feature in this neck of the woods. In some homes, an exterior shower is available on the outside of the home so that those individuals who are fresh from the beach can wash the sand off themselves. In others, the bathroom is full of beautiful fixtures and installations, from gorgeous full-size showers to bathtubs that can comfortably hold up to two people for a lovely relaxing session of bathing. These are often installed under long frosted glass windows that provide ample light while retaining privacy for those bathing. In some instances, the bathroom will feature a shower stall which has one wall made out of one way glass, allowing the person showering to view the outdoors while remaining invisible to any onlookers. The sinks are often stylish and feature a bowl-style presentation with a raised glass lip. Silver nickel towel racks and stainless steel hooks are also very common.

Selling
