Located on the very eastern edge of the greater Boston metropolitan area, this city is bounded on three sides by the Atlantic Ocean, and has a number of low-slung waterfront properties that cater to residents, although large redevelopment projects are currently in the works.

Typical properties include the restaurant at 1 Main Street, which features an exposed piping ceiling with marine themed lighting fixtures and ornaments affixed to the walls. The complex at 33 Revere Street is a two story, L-shaped brick structure that has a small onsite parking lot for its multiple commercial tenants. A grocery store occupies the ground floor unit, while the upper story is dedicated to administrative and other office tasks. The complex is located across the street from a gas station and is near several residential streets. With approximately 8,000 square feet of leasable space, this building is regularly patronized both by residents and visitors.

The cafe at 115 Winthrop Shore Drive has a memorable stone and masonry exterior that displays chunks of rock bounded by wood beams. At the rear of the property there is a patio with pavers that features a wooden bench for recreation. Located across from the Atlantic Ocean, the beach is roughly fifty feet away. Residential complexes line the seafront, providing a reliable base of customers. The interior has plaster ceilings with elegant hanging light fixtures. A stainless steel kitchen at the rear opens up into a deli counter. Granite countertop tables take up the remainder of the interior, which is approximately 1,200 square feet in size. Street parking is available year round.

The bed and breakfast at 100 Sargent Street combines several elaborately furnished rooms, as well as a sizable exterior pool, into an elegant commercial structure. Located on a tree-lined street that runs all the way to the ocean, this 2,200 square foot structure has two stories and a manicured lawn bounded by sidewalks. The interior rooms have hardwood floors and tasteful plaster accents, as well as custom lighting fixtures. The pool is housed within a wooden frame, and has an elegant marble inlay along the rim.

The complex at 47 Woodside Avenue is located in the commercial center of town near numerous other restaurants, businesses, and other commercial enterprises. Sited on a tree-lined sidewalk, the building features a brick exterior occasionally interrupted by clapboard cladding and colorful canopies. Numerous smaller commercial suites are arranged around a lazy “U” shape, affording the opportunity to install benches, small shrubbery, and other pleasing amenities. In total, the suites make up a ring of approximately 15,000 square feet, and are positioned so that vehicular traffic can easily circle the block. Just up at the block at 7 Bartlett Road is another similar configuration of suites. None of these buildings exceeds two stories in height, and landscaped islands in the center of the road encourage drivers to slow down as they pass by the buildings.

The town technically encompasses a portion of Logan International Airport, and therefore has numerous warehouses, airstrips, and large industrial spaces within its city limits.

Real Estate News

Split between a sleepy beachfront community and the home of one of the world’s most frequently used international airports, this city has many different possible futures. Many within the community are keenly aware of the redevelopment possibilities, especially along the ample amounts of coastline within the city limits. Because most of the town is surrounded by water on three sides, there are a number of possibilities in terms of buying up residential lots to create a large enough parcel for a substantial new mixed-use complex or tower.

Currently, the town has been revamping its master plan, focusing specifically on the pre-existing business district near the center of the city in what is fittingly known as the “Center Business District.” The former Middle/High School on Pauline Street has been tagged as a site for redevelopment, with some council members calling for a mixed use structure that keeps the existing gym and auditorium building. Another scheme proposes that the auditorium be removed, opening up for space for a 60 unit residential complex with additional room for several onsite commercial suites, including daycare or the sales of goods. The final scheme calls for a complete removal of all existing buildings on the school campus, replacing them with restaurant, commercial, and other mixed-use structures.

The city also has a five year strategic plan for economic development, which focuses on increasing the amount of commercial space within the region. After completing a comprehensive survey, the town wanted to significantly increase the sectors of clothing, grocery stores, sporting goods and hobbies, beer, wine and liquor, as well as restaurant services within the city limits. Recent nearby developments, including a casino and a reliable ferry service between the town and Boston, have prompted city officials to consider how they would adequately address the shortfall of commercial suites.

In order to make itself more attractive to development opportunities, the town has begun to analyze its strengths and weaknesses, and has vowed to try and improve its regulatory environment. The town is taking action to shorten the time it takes to secure a building permit, as well as creating a more holistic vision of what the zoning laws should be in order to welcome future development. The issuance of a permit by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission in September 2014 for a gaming license in nearby Everett has also changed how the town conceives of development possibilities. With the addition of a casino now a legal possibility, the town is considering its options.

Sign Up Benefits

Whether you are seeking a charming commercial suite along Woodside Avenue or an industrial unit closer to the airport, our viewing service can help you determine what properties suit you best. By signing up you’ll receive customized alerts relating to the areas that interest you the most.

With a gorgeous slew of residential beachfront properties that are intermingled with small to medium sized commercial suites, this city has a tight-knit community, but is simultaneously open to change. Investors will find that the average home price has increased as the housing stock in town has dropped, making this a highly desirable area. Because this city does have an exceptionally low vacancy rate, time is of the essence when it comes to scheduling viewing appointments. Properties here rarely last on the market very long, whether they are positioned with a prominent beach front view, or are located closer to Logan International Airport.

Our viewing service takes the effort out of arranging times to meet with brokers and property owners. Our system conveniently allows you to indicate at which properties you’d like to schedule viewings. We are able to prepare an itemized itinerary which is designed to make the best possible use of your time, and is coordinated geographically so you can visit properties in an order that makes the most amount of sense.

By virtue of the many relationships we’ve developed over the years, we are also able to offer you the first opportunity at securing viewing appointments at properties that have been freshly listed. We understand how difficult it can be to arrange a viewing only to learn that the unit has already been rented or sold to someone else. With our service, you’ll be able to tour listings that are still relatively under wraps, giving you the opportunity to find top-tier suites in your chosen locale.

Many of the properties located in the city proper are meticulously maintained, and are the recipients of high foot traffic. Properties that exist on the border of town often feature larger complexes that cater to vehicular access. We are currently monitoring several areas for new developments, including the center of town, as well as the Chelsea Point area. The green space at the tail end of the Deer Island region may lend itself to future development, although nothing has been put into motion at this time.

Essentially, our service provides a comprehensive yet tailored approach to viewing properties and finding the most recent listings. For those individuals who want to spend the bulk of their time moving in, not scrolling through the listings, we recommend signing up today. Start viewing commercial suites at your convenience!
