The townhouses here are often designed as complexes, with a grand central courtyard acting as a space not only for trees, landscaped shrubs, and flowering plants, but also other shared amenities such as a community swimming pool or hot tub. Some of these complexes have a rolling meadow that can be used for picnics or seasonal sporting games, such as recreational volleyball or a casual game of soccer.
The interiors of each of the homes is a study in refined elegance, with fireplaces made out of brick and stone. In some cases, the homes will have a grand cathedral ceiling and a fireplace with a long tiled wall that stretches to the top of the ceiling. These tiles are multi-colored, and reflect the recessed lighting from the ceiling and the natural lighting from the banks of windows that surround the central living space. These spectacularly large fireplaces are most common in units built between 1970 and 2005, although they can be found in other homes depending on how tall the ceilings are.
Loft spaces are common, and track lighting is also commonly employed to spotlight various parts of the house. The track lighting may be arrayed on a slender curving steel bar, or on a straight track that is very easy to spot within the bright white decor scheme of the kitchen. Many kitchens favor a galley style presentation, and instead of a window over the sink, the sink is positioned so it faces outward into the living room. In many set-ups of this type, a “window” will be fashioned out of a wall, so that the person using the sink looks out through a portal in the wall itself, leaving space on either side for additional cabinets or shelving.
Many of the bedrooms here have unusually shaped windows that are triangular and create a welcome lighting effect. These windows are usually installed in bedrooms that also make use of the sloping line of the roof to create a geometrically vibrant space that is also airy and relaxing. The closets are installed along one wall, and often have space directly above them that can be used for additional storage of any number of objects and paraphernalia.
