Recent Housing and Rental Market News
For centuries, this town consisted of rural farmland. While there are still many working farms in the surrounding area, industry and commercial shops have also moved into the area. Most of these new developments are placed along the highway in town.
One of the most recent developments can be found at the Hockomock Plaza. While the strip mill has been at the intersection of West Center Street and North Elm Street for decades, the owner is renovating the space. This prominent landmark will be completely revitalized to help make the area more beautiful. The project will include a new parking lot and an extra building on the property. This added building will be located on the west side of the complex where an antique store used to be.
The revitalization project will also include fixes to the neon sign, a paint job and other details. The historic landmark will gradually be restored to its former glory. The owners previously owned the House of Shine's greenhouse, but the greenhouse was recently demolished. Now, the land from that demolition will be recreated into a housing duplex.
Another upcoming project will be on a property east of Scotland Street. This project includes two developments on 81 acres of land. Known as the Cochesett Estates, these homes will include 120 housing units. At one of the properties, residents will find 81 single-family homes. About 30 of these homes will be designated as affordable housing units. The other 39 cottages at the Cochesett Estates will be condominiums with spacious courtyards.
Along the border of Brockton, another housing development is in the works. The Meadow Woods subdivision will include 33 homes once it is completed. Construction on the property began in the middle of last year. Some of these homes have already been finished, but they tend to be sold fairly quickly. Luckily, there are still more units that have to be built to finish the subdivision.
Like most of the area around Boston, this town has experienced a period of growth in the last few years. While it still retains a rural ambiance, the downtown area is gradually increasing in size. New condos and subdivisions are in the works for the coming years. As more residents leave Boston for better prices, the property values in this area are likely to grow. While the prices are still fairly low for the area, the time is right for investors and first-time buyers to enter the marketplace.
