The 72-unit development, built in 2008, is professionally managed by Greater Boston Properties of Boston. Fresh Pond, the water supply for Cambridge, and the surrounding park are just one minute away with great walking paths, a golf course, wildlife preserves and recreation areas.

Reservoir Lofts Amenities

Reservoir Lofts development was built with high-quality materials, attractive detailing and convenient facilities for owners. A number of floor plans are available for the one- and two-bedroom units, including two-bedroom penthouse lofts, each giving a sense of spaciousness with large rooms, high ceilings and a choice of one or two levels. Some owners have customized their units either as part of the purchase agreement or after occupying the residence. The original builder's specifications included fine details that provide elegant and luxurious finishing touches for an aesthetically satisfying and comfortable living environment.

The property utilities include:

Each of the several floor plans of the lofts let residents enjoy the lovely landscaping around the property from private balconies on the upper stories or private yard access from the ground floor units. The penthouse lofts feature a private deck off of each of the two bedrooms. Hardwood floors throughout each unit give a fresh, modern look. Choice of woods include bamboo, maple, red oak or Brazilian cherry. Some of the units include fireplaces.

Well-appointed kitchens include professional-style, stainless steel appliances including:

Cooking in these well-designed kitchens is enhanced by under cabinet lighting and overhead track lighting. Countertops and backsplashes are either granite or polished concrete. Gleaming hardwood floors of maple, oak or Brazilian cherry connect the kitchen seamlessly to the adjacent dining and living rooms.

The bathrooms provide a relaxing bathing experience, with pine baseboards above ceramic floor tile that is well-suited for the wet environment. One-bath units are fitted with a combination tub and shower, while the two-bath units have a separate Kohler or Ameri-cast cast-iron tub with a tile surround. Fittings are high-quality brands such as Delta faucets and valves and Toto toilets. Exhaust fans whisk away moisture quickly, while overhead lighting provides great illumination.

Large windows let in plenty of natural light, so important in the Boston area. The vinyl and fiberglass window frames are fitted with Low-E glass to maximize the warmth of the sun during winter months and minimize heat gain during the hotter summer season. The penthouse features 20-foot floor-to-ceiling windows in the living spaces, giving great views to Fresh Pond and nearby areas.

The building also includes an elevator, office and mail room, well-lit entry way and hallways and entry intercom. The development is pet-friendly.

Reservoir Lofts and Fresh Pond Environs

The Reservoir Lofts residential unit is in the Cambridge Highlands neighborhood, also known as Neighborhood 12, in northeast Cambridge. The 162-acre Fresh Pond Reservation grounds that surround the 155-acre reservoir define the southern boundary of the neighborhood. The park area includes walking and bicycle trails, a nine-hole golf course and Kingsley Park, a multi-use natural area that offers educational and discovery programs for children and adults. The area is a favorite for bird-watching enthusiasts.

Not far from Reservoir Lofts is Danehy Park, a 50-acre multi-use area with sports fields, jogging tracks and an off-leash dog park so even your pet can enjoy the outdoors. The park is built over what had been a city landfill that was closed in the early 1970s. Today it serves as an important wetland and drainage area for the watershed. There are two parking lots. The park is east of the Alewife MBTA Red Line Subway Terminal.

The project is also close to shopping, with Fresh Pond Mall to the east. Grocery stores Whole Foods Market and Trader Joe's are nearby. For entertainment, the mall includes a movie theater and a Starbucks. All are easily accessible by walking via dedicated pedestrian walkways and a pedestrian tunnel. A 24-hour pharmacy is just across the street. A number of restaurants, coffee shops and bakeries are also within walking distance.

Transportation and Roads

Reservoir Lofts is well-connected to local public transportation and major highways. Access by road to points in all directions is easy. Alewife Brook Parkway, also known as U.S. Highway 3 and Massachusetts Highway 2, runs north-south one block east of Reservoir Lofts. It connects with Concord Avenue, a major east-west thoroughfare just south of the development, via the westernmost of two rotaries. The Parkway also connects to Interstate Highway 95. Fresh Pond Parkway rings the Reservation and connects to neighborhoods south and east of Cambridge Highlands.

The Alewife MBTA Red Line Subway Terminal is within walking distance a few minutes to the north of the property, connecting you to Boston, Logan Airport and other points. Several MBTA bus stops along concord Avenue provide transit to Cambridge at Harvard Square and the greater Boston metropolitan area.

Local Amenities and Points of Interest

Alewife Brook Parkway is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, important for its contribution to urban landscaping and exceptional engineering. It was developed in 1893 as part of the early Boston Metropolitan Park District. The parkway begins at Fresh Pond, parallels Alewife Brook running to the north and ends at Mystic River at Medford. At this point, it joins the Mystic Valley Parkway. The entire Alewife Parkway is designated as Massachusetts Highway 16, a total of about two miles.

For those who want to delve into local culture and history, Harvard Square, a National Register District and the center of Cambridge, is just a short bus ride away. Here, shopping, restaurants, areas of historic interest, a large commons area and Harvard University provide an array of sites and activities to explore. Harvard University, established in the 1636, contributes to the historic character of the area.
