townhomes

Elegance and inventiveness categorize the vast majority of townhouses in this city. Generally the homes are split between two levels, and an informal mezzanine/loft space overlooks the central living area. In some homes, the kitchen is placed directly underneath this loft space so that visitors often stand along the balustrade and overlook the activities taking place in the kitchen below. The kitchen itself is designed in a kind of lower case “d” style, in which the counter curves around and then gradually straightens out into an island. The cabinets in this room usually have glass panes that allow visitors to glimpse the items inside. A few kitchens have a dedicated wine rack in one of the cabinet spaces, allowing the owners to comfortably store beverages. The refrigerator tends to act as the bridge between the kitchen and the primary living space; all the other appliances are installed behind it. Recessed lighting below the cabinets creates a warm illumination on the countertops below, making the marble or granite surfaces gleam.

The central living space, meanwhile, tends to be illuminated by tall windows that stretch sometimes two stories or more. Vaulted ceilings are common, as are cathedral ceilings. In many dwellings, a circular window will be placed at the first landing of the staircase, framing the view of the exterior yard in a fun and visually arresting way. The living room, meanwhile, is usually designed around a fireplace. This fireplace often has a stone wall that extends to the full height of the cathedral ceilings, creating an opportunity for rest and relaxation. Long windows on either side of the fireplace provide ample illumination. Hardwood floors and triple pane windows provide a measure of insulation, keeping the home warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Track lighting, meanwhile, is often used on the ceilings, especially over the staircase and in the loft area.

Selling

How can a homeowner objectively describe their home to a first-time visitor? We’ve found that it’s a rare gift indeed to be able to separate the feelings one has for a home they’ve lived in for years for a clear vision of its amenities. That’s why we help sellers craft their listings with our keen, experienced eyes. We’ve spent years working in the market, and understand the specific elements that set one property apart from another. Whether a seller’s home has an exquisite outdoor porch, an exceptional array of skylights, or particularly noteworthy finishes, we can help articulate not just the basic facts of that dwelling, but the experience of living there. With our services, a homeowner can expect to sell their property in a fraction of the time it would take on their own.
