The borders of this town include the Nashua and Squannacook Rivers. The Nashua is one of the tributaries of the Merrimack River which flows between Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The Squannacook is one of the Nashua River's tributaries and part of the watershed of the Merrimack River watershed that flows into the ocean. Some of the communities that are within 15 miles include Leominster, Lunenburg, Fitchburg, Groton, Pepperell, and Townsend. The closest city of a substantial size is Lowell, 23 miles away.
