Short Sales
Understanding the process of how short sales differ from bank-owned properties or conventional home sales is essential if you're considering a short sale home. A homeowner isn't always delinquent on their mortgage payments for a lender to consider a short sale. If a home's market value has decreased drastically, the lender may initiate the sale. By allowing the sale, they're essentially forgiving the remaining debt on the home. Experienced investors and first-time buyers can benefit by purchasing these homes below their market value, and renovating and flipping them. The buyer may live in the home and allow it to build up equity, then sell. Either way, it's an excellent way to purchase a home at an excellent price. Always work with a real estate professional who understands the complexities of short sales, have a home inspection to avoide problems later, and get pre-approved before you start to identify likely properties.
