In addition to properties that have a full size convenience store on site, many parcels are designed to be as efficient as possible, and feature only a small clerk’s booth and banks of pumps. These parcels are usually located next to businesses, such as a rental car agency or rentable moving van company, that does frequent, high-traffic business at the facility, and requires speed over the other amenities that frequently adorn a fueling stop. The clerk’s booth tends to be located equidistant from all the banks of pumps, and has a series of windows or clear plastic panes draped around the central control console. This booth is usually designed so that a clerk can survey the activity happening in all areas of the station while reacting to individual customers who need additional assistance.

Some of these stations have a key-card system which enables commercial clients to quickly gas up while charging their expenses to a larger account. Other stations are designed in a more traditional fashion, and have payment processing centers located at each pump that allows for a wider swath of the public to stop in and purchase gas.

Leasing

While many people choose to lease a gas station in Revere because they know it will receive high amounts of traffic, others prefer the challenge of successfully operating a convenience store. This includes understanding how to restock shelves, maintain inventory in refrigerated cases, and generally predict the habits of a customer base that is partly local and partly regional.

Because of the city’s location on the waterfront, many customers that walk into the store are traveling along the Eastern Seaboard, or are otherwise exploring the greater Boston region. This means that many customers will be interested in purchasing items that relate either to the city they are visiting or the natural attractions they plan to encounter. Accessories such as key rings, t-shirts, sunglasses, and even swimsuits that bear the designs of local attractions or noteworthy historic monuments can be very popular sellers.

This type of merchandise is traditionally sold in tandem with basic food products, from snack-like items to frozen goods such as ice cream or even containers of orange juice and chilled coffee. Many stores prefer to have an assortment of candy and other treats displayed under the front counter, next to the cash register.

Geographic Location

With the Atlantic Ocean on one side and a series of bustling towns right by its side, this city has always been a popular destination for locals and long distance travelers. With the city of Malden to the west, Lynn to the north, and the Boston neighborhoods of Chelsea and East Boston to the south, this area has a prime location and a seemingly endless array of recreational areas. Several heavily trafficked roads run through the city, including Route 145, Route 1, Route 60, Route 107, Route 16, and Route 1A. Route 107 heads straight through the Sea Plane Basin, which is one of the largest green areas near the dense downtown business district. Route 60 winds its way through town, passing Erricola Park as it does so. Sonny Myer’s Park is located off Winthrop Avenue, while the Revere Beach Parkway can be reached from Route 16. Route 1A, meanwhile, runs along the oceanfront.
