While the city features many historic homes for sale, new construction and luxury homes tend to dominate the real estate. The city has many quiet cul de sac neighborhoods and waterfront communities with new home prices that typically start at $375k and go up to more than $1 million.

Waterfront properties in the city tend to be the most expensive. The neighborhood of Willett Pond is among the poshest. This 22-acre impoundment creates two miles of beaches with numerous luxury waterfront homes that typically start at $1.5 million. These beautiful estate homes often include private waterfront acreage, guest apartments, and other luxury features.

The most popular community for working class families is The Flats, which is home to many large Colonial homes and apartment buildings. This community has been popular with families since the 19th century with homes that date to the 1800s up to the 1990s. Many of the homes in this community offer upscale finishes like two-story foyers, sun rooms, and crown molding with space to grow.

One of the most exciting developments is Brooksmont with new homes priced between $470 and $520k. This neighborhood sits on 20 acres with a community garden and three different floor plans. Brooksmont is a desirable 55+ adult community close to transportation, shopping, and dining. The Trentino plan has two bedrooms and 2-3 bathrooms with a two-car garage and 1,650 square feet of space. Endicott Woods is one of the latest condo developments in the city. Built in 2018, Endicott Woods features 112 spacious two-level townhomes with a maintenance-free design. A standard townhome at the complex has two bedrooms, a one-car garage, one and a half bathrooms, and a driveway parking space. The Lenox Village Condominium community is another smart choice. This townhouse community is located in a desirable central area of the city within walking distance to public transportation and great local restaurants. The townhomes themselves are built with modern construction yet fronted with a traditional New England facade that blends the new with the old. Lenox Village is comprised of just 18 townhomes on carefully landscaped grounds starting in the high $400s.

The Dean Farm Ridge Condominiums also offer first-class yet affordable living. Built in 2000, this large development offers a range of two- and three-bedroom apartment-style condos and townhomes with up to 2,300 square feet of size. At Dean Farm Ridge, you'll enjoy large open floor plans that make you forget you aren't living in a single-family home. The complex is close to major routes, restaurants, and shopping. This community is conveniently located near 1-95 and Route 128 with a commuter rail stop right in the community. If you're commuting to Boston, you can step out the front door and be taken to the South Station in just 25 minutes. This family-friendly community offers an on-site daycare facility and play area plus tennis courts, swimming pools, volleyball courts, and a fitness center. It's also pet-friendly with a dog park and no weight limit for pets.

At Norwood Gardens, you can choose from 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom apartments next to the Traphole Brook between Route 1 and I-95. Apartments in the complex range from 725 square feet to more than 1,300 square feet with amenities you wouldn't expect with the square footage. Even one-bedroom apartments in the community feature walk-in closets and/or dining areas. Apartments in Norwood Gardens boast open floor plans, sweeping views of conservation land, and deluxe kitchens. The community itself offers a range of amenities like a fitness center, resident lounge, movie theater, and activity room. The building was constructed in 1973 but fully renovated in 2012. Norwood Gardens offers 344 total units on two stories.

Another option is Norwest Woods with one-, two-, and three-bedroom units that include single-level homes and townhomes for rent. Homes in this community range from a spacious 840 square feet to more than 1,700 square feet of living space with open floor plans and upscale finishes. The property sits on a 20-acre oasis with 438 units. Built in 1971, the property has been completely remodeled recently. Residents can enjoy tennis and basketball courts, a playground, a modern fitness center, and a pool.

Norwood, MA Real Estate

Norwood is part of the Greater Boston Metro area with a population of about 30,000. This city is popular among buyers for its scenic beauty with many homes situated along the Neponset River that to the Boston Harbor. It's also a popular commuter community as it's located just 23 miles from Boston and served by the commuter rail. This city isn't as expensive as some communities in the Boston area. With many moderate-sized single-family homes, including a mix of older homes and new construction, the city is a good place to find moderately priced homes close to the city.

This city is a good choice if you enjoy city living without the substantially higher city pricing. The community tends to be densely populated with more retail options than surrounding towns, although homes still offer large lawns and living space.

The median list price in the city is $440,000 with a median list price per square foot of $253, slightly lower than the Boston Metropolitan average of $263 per square foot. In some areas of the city, prices can top $1.5 million, particularly for estate homes on waterfront real estate. Most new construction in the area starts at $470 to $700k.

The focal point of the community is the Balch School, which opened in 1913.

The most affluent and posh area of the city is adjacent to Willett Pond/New Pond close to St. Timothy's Church. Willett Pond, a 220-acre impoundment that runs more than a mile long, is home to many waterfront homes. Homes on Willett Pond Road are usually priced around $1.5 million and include boat-able waterfront and private acreage. These estate homes typically feature upscale amenities like guest apartments and in-ground pools.

Some of the most expensive homes in Massachusetts can also be found around Willet Pond on private roads like Pettees Pond Lane. These sweeping estates boast more than 12,000 square feet of space, state-of-the-art technology, private gyms, wine cellars, chef's kitchens, Jacuzzi steam showers, and other high-class amenities.
