Single-Family Houses for Sale
Single-family homes account for most of the property for sale in the city. As a historic community, about one-third of the homes in the area date to 1939 or older, although there was a construction boom between 1970 and 2000 when the city expanded rapidly. In recent years, a number of new subdivisions have also been introduced to the city.

The median list price for a single-family home in the city is $315,000, which is very close to the median sale price. The city is considered a hot market with home prices expected to continue rising in the next few years. The north part of the city tends to have the highest property values with a median list price of $360,000. One of the newest subdivisions of single-family homes is Brigham Hill Estates with 86 homes just off Slater Street. This quiet neighborhood features custom homes built in the New England style. This isn't a cookie-cutter subdivision; every home is unique with large master suites, walk-in closets, and jet tubs or whirlpool bathtubs in most homes.
Colman Estates, completed in 2018 by the same developer, offers a large selection of estate homes with 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, and 2,500 square feet of living space. These new homes offer about half an acre of land with manicured landscaping. Rolling Hills Estates, also within the city limits, was completed in 2018 with Contemporary Colonial style homes and custom features. There are also single-family manufactured homes in the city. This is a good option to compromise square footage and price. The Oakhill community is the largest neighborhood of manufactured homes with two-bedroom, two-bath homes with 1,000 square feet of living space. These homes are usually priced at $100,000 to $14,000 with sheds and porches. This community offers on-site amenities, kid-friendly activities, and a community bus stop that connects to local hubs.
Foreclosures can be a good way to find a deal on a single-family home in the city, which has a foreclosure rate that is much higher than the national average but lower than the Providence Metropolitan area as a whole.
Of all the neighborhoods in the city, the most in-demand and expensive include Pleasant St/Pike Avenue, the City Center, N Main St/Holden St, and Dodgeville/Briggs Corner. In some of these areas, property values exceed $380,000 on average. While many have become dominated by large condo buildings and commercial property, older single-family homes are still found in established neighborhoods.
Condos/Townhouses for Sale
Despite being a historic community, the city features a number of condominium and townhouse developments. Many of the condos built in the area were constructed between the 1970s and 2000s. A townhouse or condo offers an affordable way to enjoy the small-town charm of the city and the convenience of its location between Providence and Boston. The city features developments that fit a range of budgets with most units priced between $90,000 and $400,000. The following are some of the most sought-after condo and townhouse developments in the area.
Blackinton Commons in the northern part of the city is popular for its spacious townhouses with open floor plans. This high-end condo complex offers two-bedroom units, each with a one-car garage. Townhouses in the community typically sell for $250,000 to $265,000, depending on upgrades.
The Residences at Falls Pond is a nearby condo building with an ideal location near the intersection of Elm Street and Mount Hope Street right on Lake Hiawatha. This large complex is a popular choice for commuters with several major highways within minutes. Most units in the complex are two-bedroom with 500 to 1,000 square feet of living space.
The Juniper Gardens condo development is more affordable than many condo buildings in the city. These one-bedroom units are located close to Interstates 295, 495, and 95 and Route 1 and within walking distance of public transportation. Juniper Gardens offers condos with an average square footage of 700 square feet and 18 total units in the complex. This smaller, well-maintained building is within walking distance to Falls Pond.
Mill Street Village is one of the newest townhome developments in the city. The development, completed in 2014, boasts spacious 1,600-square-foot townhomes in a desirable part of the city overlooking a quiet wooded area. Flynn Terrace was constructed by the same developer nearby with just 24 units. This community features townhome with about 1,600 square feet of space, a full basement, three bedrooms, and a one- or two-car garage.
One of the most affordable condo complexes in the city is Wood's Edge Condominiums. This community offers a tranquil setting surrounded by the woods with an in-ground community pool, private off-street parking, and close proximity to public transportation and major commuter routes. The three-story condo building sits on a 26-acre estate that's just minutes from downtown. The 96-unit property offers 2-bedroom condos ranging in size from 960 to 1,200 square feet. Select units feature a balcony or patio.
Bristol Arms Condominiums off Main Street is another example of an affordable condo community in the city. This building offers two-bedroom condos that are walking distance from the T-Station.
The nearby Twin Beech Court Condominiums, also on Main Street, offers larger units and a more tranquil setting. This 76-unit complex features two-level townhouses surrounding by mature landscaping. The Twin Beech Court building offers a range of amenities including a bocce court, clubhouse, barbeque area, basketball court, library, hot tub, fitness center, and guest suite. Most units are two-bedroom with an open floor plan.
Apartments
The city offers many options for renters looking for an apartment, condo, or duplex. While many of the apartment complexes in the city are older, dating to the 1970s to 1980s, there are also a few newer apartment buildings in the city. If you are looking for a dedicated apartment complex for renters in the city, you may find your options are somewhat limited, but many of the condo developments in the area allow owners to rent out their units. This means many apartments and condos on the market are located in stable communities with a high share of owner-occupied units. This can be a good choice if you have limited rental history, poor credit, or you otherwise would prefer to deal directly with the owner of the unit rather than a property management company.
The latest addition to the city's landscape for renters is the Renaissance Station, a landmark building part of the historic city's rebirth. The Renaissance Station is located right next to the Commuter Rail Station with a fast 15-minute ride to Providence or 45 minutes to Boston. Units at the Renaissance Station feature hardwood flooring, granite countertops, high ceilings, European-style cabinets, stainless steel appliances, and laundry hook-ups. Building amenities include a fitness center and covered parking.
Chartwell Briarwood, located on Oakdale Street, is a larger apartment community two- and three-bedroom units available with about 1,1500 square feet of living space. Briarwood offers a quiet residential atmosphere as it's nestled just next to La Salette Trails and the Attleboro Springs Wildlife Sanctuary. The building is two miles from the Commuter Rail and minutes from I-95 and I-295. The building was built in 1980 and has 139 total units.
Further north in the city is the apartment complex on Maple Street in Watertown. This apartment building, located next to Newton Corner, offers very spacious three-bedroom apartments that can be hard to find in the city. The building is just minutes from MassPike.
If you prefer a smaller building, the 6-unit complex on Peck Street may have what you're looking for. This building is within walking distance of the Commuter Rail and recently underwent a complete renovation with new appliances and flooring. Every unit in the Peck Street apartments comes with a large living room, high ceilings, and private storage in the basement. Some units include pocket doors and a bonus room.
Gardner Street Condos offers more spacious rental properties with three bedroom, 1.5 bath townhomes and three floors of living space. Units at the Gardner Street Condos come with a full basement for storage space, a sun deck, laundry hook-ups, and dedicated parking.
Park Street Condominiums also offers apartments in the area with a modern downtown building and the ultimate convenience. Park Street condos are smaller with 1 bedroom, 1 bath units with around 625 square feet of living space. At Park Street, rent is typically under $900 per month. The building is a great choice for commuters with a one-block walk to Providence and Boston commuter rails. It's located at the intersection of Routes 152, 118, and 123.
