Back in 2015, this town made the news for its extraordinarily luxurious private properties. The specific property that generated headlines was at 88 Milton Street, and was a 23 room mansion located on 12 acres that mimicked a chateau in Versailles. Although this was one of the most expensive properties in the area, the town has become known for its rolling estates and innovative private home architecture. In December 2017, a 4,460 square foot house had a sale list price of $1,900,000, or $426.00 a square foot. In comparison to its neighbor Dedham, this town has a slighter higher average purchase price for homes, with an average of $340 per square foot.
This news is relevant to commercial developers primarily because it provides an excellent base for future investment. The main business district is currently composed of a number of low slung, freestanding structures that are beautifully landscaped and located within easy walking distance of one another. The remainder of the city limits are taken up with single family homes on large lots, creating a modest urban density that is welcoming. The area’s proximity to Boston, coupled with its extensive public transit line, makes it an excellent candidate for future development. Unlike other cities that are densely developed, this city is still relatively open in terms of its spatial constraints.
The city is currently processing the development of the Wolcott Residential / Carberry Estate project, which would introduce 54 new units of housing to the city along Canton Avenue. The project would also feature a common room on the ground floor, although in the current plans this room would be accessible to tenants only. The likelihood that the project will build new commercial suites is unlikely at this stage, but it does signal a need for a greater commercial presence in the area. Currently, the city is undertaking a number of infrastructural repair and maintenance projects, including updating the water mains, reinvesting in stormwater drains, and refurbishing the commuter rail station. The city does not have a plan at this time for a comprehensive retail development scheme.

This town is located in Norfolk County. It had a population of 27,003 in the 2010 U.S. Census. The total area of the community is 13.3 square miles, with 0.2 square miles being comprised of water. Nearby communities include Quincy, Randolph, and Canton. It shares its northern border with Boston.

The community has enjoyed a strong economy from its earliest days. A powder mill was built on the Neponset River in 1647 and is one of the first communities to harness water power in the colonies. The Village

Town Center
This south/central area of town is divided evenly by Massachusetts Route 28. The median real estate price is $713,186. This is a newer section of town, with most buildings constructed after 1940.
Blue Hills/Curry College
This neighborhood is located in the southwestern corner of the town. It is the most expensive area in terms of property costs, with a median real estate price of $849,923. This is the newest area of town, with most of the construction occurring since 2000.
