This town in Bristol County has a village by the same name as the town center. Although it's one of Boston's southwest suburbs, it's closer to Providence, Rhode Island. This is a prime location for investors since one of the Routes 495 and 95 intersections is on the town line with Foxborough, and both highways run through the town. Limited portions of Routes 106 and 140 run through the community. Exit 12 from Interstate 495 is inside the limits of the town. The MBTA commuter rail line that runs between Boston and Providence has a stop here.

A small section of the northernmost border of Bristol County is located on the town's north side. the east and west sections of town, as well as Ginty Corner and Purdy Corner, are designated neighborhoods. The Canoe, Wading, and Rumford Rivers as well as several brooks bisect the community and are a part of the watershed of the Taunton River. The five recognized conservation areas are Great Woods, Maple Park, Marie Strese, Sweet Pond, and York.
