Neighborhoods and Geographic Location
At the community's northern border is the Ipswich River. Several brooks meander through the town. Lakes and ponds in the area are Suntaug Lake, Pillings Pond, Reedy Meadow, and Walden Pond, which has no connection to the famous pond in Concord. In a northwest section of the community is a portion of Camp Curtis Guild, and at the southeastern edge is part of the Lynn Woods Reservation. The town is on the western side of Essex County and is bordered by several Middlesex County communities that include North Reading to the north and northwest, Reading on the western side, and Wakefield to the southwestern side. Middleton Hill is the city's highest point and offers views of the city and surrounding area.
