The fact that this city is so close to a state line makes it a favorite place for truckers, vacationers, and other travelers to refuel. Depending on its specific locale, many of the stations here have wide entry points that include a substantial amount of space in which a large truck can maneuver its payload to make fueling easy. Often, an entire bank of pumps that dispenses diesel fuel only will be located near this wide turnaround area so that a truck can hop off the interstate and quickly replenish its supply, and then continue on its way. Numerous fueling stops also come with their own convenience stores.
Leasing
Many individuals who consider leasing a gas station in this area are drawn to it because of its location and ample amount of space. Unlike a dense cityscape, this region has a relatively modest density that makes it easy to acquire large tracts of land and summarily provide services to customers. For those who lease, this means that it is easy to service a variety of customers, as well as enjoy the benefits of running a convenience store that has a substantial number of local and visiting customers.
Most of the stations in this region have wide lots that are surrounded by trees or sweeping meadows that lead up to a pond. The stores are usually between 1,000 to 3,500 square feet in size, although some of the larger sites have stores that exceed this limit. The front of the store is usually designed one of two ways. In the first style, the front has wide display panes that span from the floor to the ceiling, and terminate in a corner that is faintly reminiscent of the “Googie” style of architecture popular on the U.S. West Coast in the 1950’s and 1960s. In the second style, the store is designed as a hyper efficient rectangle, and features one long unbroken panel of glass that stretches from one side to the other. The other three sides of the building are opaque, and usually made out of cinder block or concrete. An exterior restroom will often be located on one side, while a small area for inserting air into tires and water into the engine is located on the other.
Geographical Location
Located along the Rhode Island/Massachusetts state line, this rectangle-shaped city is mere minutes from Woonsocket, Rhode Island, with which it shares its southern border. On the Massachusetts side, the cities of Blackstone and Mendon are located to the west, while Franklin is located to the east. Medway is on the northeastern side, and Milford is on the northwestern border. Interstate 495, often referred to as the Blue Star Memorial Highway, passes through the northern sector of the city. Route 126 and Route 140 provide access to the rest of the region, including downtown Bellingham. Numerous bodies of water and green spaces are also located within the city limits. Silver Lake and its adjoining park can be via Cross Street, while the High Street Complex is located off High Street, which connects to Route 126. Suitably, the banks of Box Pond can be reached via Box Pond Road, while Beaver Pond is accessible via Hartford Avenue.
