Many of these properties come with either a convenience store or some kind of repair facility. The fueling pumps themselves are traditionally placed in front of the store, and can vary in number from two principal pumps to twelve or more, depending both on the location of the lot and the anticipated demand for fuel. Some of these facilities are designed to accommodate large industrial trucks, and have a seperate area dedicated to their fueling needs. Others are located near residential areas, and can only welcome smaller vehicles. However, in almost all cases the canopy that covers the pumps has a relatively high ceiling, which in turn can fit almost any vehicle, as well as a boat or other towed craft.
Leasing
Why would someone want to lease a gas station in this city? Simply put, the number of potential customers makes it very worthwhile. The town’s location near so many natural ponds, woodlands and other natural features makes it a stopping point for travelers who need to replenish themselves and their vehicles. Additionally, locals often shop in the attached convenience store for various supplies because it is closer than the nearest grocery store or market. In some places, the store becomes a kind of showcase of local goods.
There are also a variety of different configurations that make the market very welcoming for an enterprising retailer. Some of the stations are located along rural routes, while others are closer to the heart of downtown. Both have advantages. The rural stations tend to have a customer base that is ready to stock up on supplies and fuel almost empty tanks, while the properties closer to the city center are invariably frequented by a variety of commercial transport vehicles, from taxis to buses to carpooling vehicles.
The signage used for these stations also varies. Brightly illuminated signs are typical, but their size and relative location change based on the type of access road. For cities, the sign is usually mounted in the parking lot of the station, and bears the logo of the fueling company. In more rural areas, the signs may be placed several hundred yards away from the property in an attempt to catch the attention of motorists so they have enough time to slow down and enter the station.
Geographical Location
Sited roughly 42 miles northwest of Boston, this town is marked by several sizable bodies of water. The city of Littleton borders it to the east, Groton shares the northern border, Devens is located off the west side, and Harvard is due south. The central business district is clustered in the southwest section of the city, right up against the official border. The Grove Pond and Pirone Park, which are located next to one another, can be accessed via Bligh Street, which is located off East Main Street. Upper Flanagan Pond is located off Oak Ridge Drive, while Sandy Pond and Long Pond Brook can be reached via Snake Hill Road. Route 111 passes over James Brook, which extends from the Nashua River and crosses the area in an east-west direction.
