Short Sales
With an array of ponds and natural woodlands, this town has a number of homes that overlook gorgeous vistas while being only a few minutes from the bustling downtown center of the city. Properties that come to the market via short sale tend to be equipped not only with the latest and best in appliances, but impressive parcels that are nestled close to the abundant natural wonders of the town. The average price is $200 per square foot for a property of this kind.
Most homes have two or more stories, with basements and attic spaces forming unofficial third and fourth floors. The front of the home usually has a front porch with a banister and enough room to comfortably host a few rocking chairs or a hammock. In winter time, this space can be used to place seasonal decorations. Once inside, a visitor is greeted with hardwood floors and cozy rooms that are surrounded by windows. Depending on the year the property was originally built, older materials may be featured prominently, including timber beams and restored brick walls. The kitchens here usually are arranged in a L-shape, with cabinets placed above the speckled granite countertops.
The bathrooms are outfitted in creative tile patterns that often include one or two vividly colored tiles amid a backdrop of white or beige. Brand new fixtures, many of which have adjustable settings for pressure and pattern, are installed within this room.
Bank Owned Properties
Many of the foreclosures in this area offer buyers an opportunity to live within a gorgeously appointed home at an incredibly reasonable price. Sales of this kind typically range between $170 and $220 a square foot. Homes in this area usually have three bedrooms and two bedrooms, with an average of 2,000 square feet and a parcel of roughly one acre. Neo-colonial styles are typical here, although Victorian and Tudor styles are also frequently employed.
When visitors first set foot on the property, they are greeted by an attached garage and paved driveway which leads to the front entrance. A portico is common, but some homes also prefer to do away with any additional ornamentation, placing the door flush with the rest of the exterior facade. When the door opens, the visitor is ushered into the primary living space, which usually features a fireplace and a mantle. Windows placed at regular intervals provide excellent light, and the walls create a sense of intimacy and warmth.
The kitchens often experiment with different decor schemes, sometimes favoring an all-white scheme, or an all-black scheme in terms of both the colors of the cabinets and the matching appliances. This can create a dramatic departure from the brightness of the primary living space, especially if the kitchen is sited toward the back of the property, where one window provides a view of the backyard. In many homes, the kitchen is placed adjacent to a set of sliding glass doors that lead to an exterior patio. This increases the amount of light that enters the home, and also provides a lovely place for a dining table. Those enjoying a meal can also sample the exquisite scenery.
The bedrooms are large but generally avoid vaulted ceilings in order to keep the rooms as warm as possible. Walk-in closets are typical, and the master bedroom traditionally can access the bathroom directly without having to first step into the intermediary hallway. The master bathroom is often stylish and chic, with a bowl sink that rises above the granite countertop. A shower that is partially embedded into the wall so that it mostly opaque except for a glass entry door is common. In other bathrooms, an oversized jetted bathtub that is recessed so that it recalls a hot tub is installed.
